Glorious Gardenias

I've been feeding my three gardenia bushes for the past month and no blossoms until yesterday and this morning some blossoms finally bloomed! The bushes are covered with more buds so i think they're going to be amazing..and their fragrance is one of my favorites.
Also, in one of our hanging baskets on the back patio a little finch made a nest and there are 5 perfect little eggs in it. I really hope i get to see my baby birdies before we close...which is in less than two weeks!!

Mama Bird watching from the tree was not happy with my photo sesh. Fear not, no eggs were hurt!

Mother's Day Weekend

The Sr. Nulks visited this past Mother's day weekend! We had a great time visiting (showing off home improvements) and relaxing. Micheal made his famous/adopted ribs which were fabulous! On Mother's Day we went to the amazing Lady Bird Wildflower center! It was a perfect spot..weather was cloudy and cool, Gabe could run around, and we walked around the perfectly manicured grounds deciding Texas is quite pretty!

On another note...we could be in the final weeks of living in our house! Looks like we have a buyer who wants to close by May 30th. We have to work out some kinks with the appraisal but were pretty excited!

Bluebonnet Teaser

This past Sunday, amidst panting, chiseling, grouting, installing, tweaking, bbq-ing and landscaping (plus a million more trips to lowesack as i affectionately call it) we had family photos taken! It was a fundraiser for another company in the battalion and the photographer selected a hillside covered in bluebonnets! It was really fun...here a the 2 pics she's posted so far and i totally LOVE them!

Green Chile Easter

Standard family photo. Note the fabulous boots I'm wearing...they are my mother-in-law's and i COVET them!!! I know, i know, thou shalt not. But seriously i want these boots!! :)

Easter morn

The Monday before Easter Sunday Michael & I had a family day for Sapper company and there we found out that Michael had a 4-day pass for Easter weekend. We were discussing plans and another lt & his wife were talking about heading to new mex....so then we decided what the heck, why don't we go out there too! It's only a mere 700 mi trip (aka 12 hrs) so why not. Under 1000 miles = close proximity to family when you;re in the military. because hey, 12 hrs is doable, 28 hrs is a bit trickier (yes that's how far away my fam is...bummer dude) So anyways, we packed up and headed up to new mex as soon as Mike was done with work. We had a great weekend! It totally flew by. It went from snowing and cold on Friday to hot and sunny on Easter. We hiked, visited, played cards, ate carb-less foods, dyed eggs and helped rearrange furniture! If you actually have the blessing of living close to your parents..don't whine, be grateful!

My favorite part of the trip was relaxing in new mex...watching gabe interact with his Grandparents.

My least favorite part of the trip: Michael running over a cat with the truck and Gabe screaming the entire last 10 miles!

Easter brunch calls for china! And fresh tea and a fabulous feta frittata. Did Michael put green chile on his? Yes. Did i put ketchup on mine? Absolutely. Were very classy.

We opted not to use the stickers for egg decorating...so Michael found another use...decorating Gabe's face. It went better putting them on than taking them off.

Cutest lil' bunny around!

Gabe exploring the bottom part to the Sr. Nulk's new snazzy fountain that i sort of want in my bedroom!

dinner outside in while watching the sunset? Sounds glorious

Some were not invited to the outdoor activities...

Just put a sombrero on us and say HOLA! We bought these at a truck stop on our trip out...they were $6. Best $6 we ever spent. Seriously they're warm and delightful. And frankly, i think they should come back in style.

New road, new carpet

Michael said our room looked like a hotel. Pardon the clothes on the bed...i didn't know he was planning on taking a pic. It is defintily an amazing improvement! Before was dingy, ratty, stained tan carpet. Now we have a luxurious darker tan..feels great on bare feet!

This is off trimmier...the road they've been "working" on for a year. One of the houses has a couple HUGE longhorns. Michael keeps envisioning those horns up on our wall...so far i've been able to defer him from any antlers or horns in our decorating. Well see how long that lasts.
